Submission of Life Certificate by Pensioners under EPS (using Jeevan Pramaan Patra software application)
A) Due Date Extended by EPFO from 28 Feb. 2017 to 31 Mar. 2017
EPFO has again extended the last date for submission of Digital Life Certificate from 28 Feb. 2017 to 31 Mar. 2017 (through Jeevan Pramaan Patra software application), in view of the fact that many pensioners are yet to submit Aadhaar authenticated Jeevan Pramaan as life certificate for continuation of drawal of pension.
Members and pensioners of the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 are now required to furnish Aadhaar number by 31 Mar. 2017. In case a member has not been allotted Aadhaar Number, a copy of Aadhaar Enrollment ID slip is required to be attached for settlement of claim under EPS, 1995, i.e. for pension processing/ monthly pension payments. Aadhaar number however is not required in cases where a member of pension scheme having less than 10 years of service, chooses to withdraw, by making an application in Form 10-C.
B) Due Date Extended by EPFO from 15 Jan. 2017 to 28 Feb. 2017
EPFO has further extended the last date for submission of digital life certificate from 15 Jan. 2017 to 28 Feb. 2017 to help them get their pension account linked with Aadhaar, in line with new requirement of linking pension account with Aadhaar, i.e. submission of digital life certificate. EPFO has already done away with the practice of accepting hard copies of life certificate through banks, i.e. now pensioners are required to provide life certificate digitally either through their mobile phone (through jeevan pramaan software application) or at common service centres or at bank branches providing the facility.
C) Due Date Extended by EPFO from 30 Nov. 2016 to 15 Jan. 2017
The EPFO has decided to extend the due date/ last date for submission of the ‘annual life certificate’ or say ‘jeevan pramaan patra’ for the Government pensioners under EPS, from 30 Nov. 2016 to 15 Jan. 2017. The same has been done keeping in view the fact that due to exchange of old currency, the banking system will stay overloaded upto 31 Dec. 2016.
It may be noted that submission of ‘life certificate’ or ‘jeevan pramaan patra’ is one of the major requirements for the pensioners post their retirement from government service.
