Members/ CA Firms should submit/ update Correct PAN Details with ICAI to avoid disabling of E-Filing A/c

a) ICAI again Requests Practising Members to provide/ update PAN details to avoid blocking of e-filing account by the Income Tax Department (ICAI Announcement dt. 5 Nov. 2016)

This refers to the earlier announcements of ICAI regarding the updation of PAN details by the members in the Institute’s records to avoid blocking of e-filing account by the Income Tax Department. Inspite of the earlier said announcements and reminder emails sent from time to time, it has been observed that many members have still not updated their PAN details in the Institute’s record.

It is pertinent to mention that in the recent past the Income Tax authorities have blocked the e- filing accounts of the members who either have not submitted their PAN details to the Institute or of those, in whose cases discrepancies have been found between records as available with the Institute and the database of the Income Tax Department on account of the mismatch in ‘Name’/ ‘PAN No.’ / ‘Date of Birth’. These blocked accounts have been reactivated after a lot of efforts by the ICAI as during this period members had to face lot of hardships.

To avoid such a situation in future, we urgently appeal to all practicing members who have not yet submitted their PAN details to submit the same to their respective Regional Offices at the earliest. Those members in whose cases mismatches (in Name, Date of Birth or PAN) have been found between ICAI records and those as per Income Tax Department are also advised to settle the discrepancies at the earliest. Individual communications for all such cases have already been sent through e-mail to all the members as per Institute’s records.

b) ICAI Reiterates it’s requirement for submission of updated/ correct PAN details by the Members/ CA Firms to avoid blocking of e-filing account by the Income Tax Department (27-08-2016)

On 26th August 2016, the ICAI has taken up the matter of disabling/ deactivating of e-filing accounts of it’s members by the Income Tax Department on account of the mismatch in Name/ PAN No./ Date of Birth, etc. records available with the Income Tax Deptt and the ICAI.

As per ICAI Announcement dt. 27 Aug. 2016, the Income Tax Deptt has temporarily activated the e-filing accounts which were blocked on account of the aforesaid mismatch to provide another opportunity to remove the discrepancies in the records and has sent an email to the affected cases involving discrepancy in name.

Kindly note that the members who are not yet reported under this category of ‘Name’ mismatch by the Income Tax department will not be able to access the link. As regards the discrepancies pertaining to the mismatch in the ‘Date of Birth’ and ‘PAN Number’, concerned members are being informed through email to indicate the correct details along with supporting documents and the steps as warranted by the Income Tax Office will be taken in due course. However, as of now these accounts will remain blocked.

c) ICAI Requests Members/ Firms to provide/ update PAN details to avoid blocking of e-filing account by the Income Tax Department (24-08-2016)

ICAI has noticed that the Income Tax Department has temporarily blocked/ disabled the e-Filing account of the members whose correct PAN details are not available with the Department, due to incorrect PAN details updated/ provided to Income Tax Department which are not in synchronisation with the details available with the ICAI. In this regard, members had been earlier also requested by the ICAI to submit their correct PAN details with the ICAI at the earliest, to avoid such situations.

ICAI is taking up the matter with Income Tax Department to resolve the issue on top priority basis and has requested the members to update/ provide their PAN details by filling requisite details as above latest by 26.08.2016.

d) ICAI advisory to Submit PAN to continue online uploading of TAR & MCA Forms (14 Apr 2016)

Members those who have not submitted PAN details in line with ICAI’s request dt 21st Nov. 2015 for submission of PAN details by 15th Dec., 2015, might face difficulties in online uploading of TAR & MCA forms.

e) ICAI Requests Members and CA Firms to Submit PAN details (21 Nov. 2015)

ICAI has decided, based on advice received from the Income Tax Department, that the Permanent Account Number (PAN) Card details of the members and firm of chartered accountants are required to be included in the Central Database of the ICAI.

Accordingly, ICAI has advised its Members / CA Firms to provide the following details with self-attested copy of PAN card to their concerned Regional office on or before 15th December, 2015:
