PM Modi commissioned 91 new Low Power FM Transmitters with a capacity of 100 watts each at various locations across India. Priority was given to Left Wing Extremism affected areas, Aspirational Districts and border regions for transmitter installation. The government has also approved the installation of 63 more FM transmitters to meet the growing demand for FM radio service in India, fueled by clear sound quality and widespread availability of FM receiver-equipped mobile phones.
AIR: India’s Largest FM Network
In his address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the significance of expanding the AIR network, remarking that the 91 new FM transmitters will benefit 85 districts and 2 crore people with additional reach in 35,000 sq km.
