As per ET News reports, Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) of the Government of India has appointed former finance secretary Sh. Ajay Bhushan Pandey as the Chairman of the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) for a period of 3 years from the date of assumption of charge or upto the age of 65 years whichever is earlier.
Sh. Ajay Bhushan Pandey is a retired IAS (1984 batch) Officer of the Maharashtra cadre. Earlier, he has worked as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and Chairman of the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN). Also he has been instrumental in bringing fundamental direct tax reforms, like introduction of faceless assessments/ appeals, automated refunds, historical reduction of corporate tax in India, digital payments, etc. In short, he has actively participated in all the major reforms in India , including relating to Aadhaar, GST and Direct Taxes.
Also, the Government has appointed Sh. Praveen Kumar Tiwari (former Deputy C&AG) and Ms. Smita Jhingran (IRS 1986 – Principal Director General at CBDT), as full time members of NFRA.
