The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is promoting Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Swadeshi campaign and the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP), in an effort to boost self-reliance and job creation in India.

Boosting Self-Reliance and Job Creation with KVIC Initiatives

As part of this initiative, KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar recently embarked on a three-day visit to Rajasthan to engage with the local community and raise awareness about the benefits of participating in these self reliance and employment booster programs.

KVIC: Job Creation Through Swadeshi Campaign

KVIC Chairman, Shri Manoj Kumar, emphasized that India’s youth can generate maximum employment by participating in Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Swadeshi campaign. By establishing small units financed under the PMEGP, the young entrepreneurs can provide jobs for numerous other individuals as well.

A. Three-day Rajasthan Visit

During a recent three-day trip to Rajasthan, the KVIC Chairman participated in various programs and workshops aimed at promoting the Prime Minister’s message of becoming a job provider instead of a job seeker. Workshops on PMEGP were held on April 20th and 21st, offering detailed information about the program to potential beneficiaries.

B. PMEGP Workshop

At the PMEGP workshop in Jaipur on April 20th, MP Shri Ramcharan Bohra emphasized KVIC’s ongoing efforts to provide employment opportunities in every village. He instructed organizers to arrange awareness camps in Panchayat Samitis and Vidhan Sabha constituencies. KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar highlighted the success of the ‘Vocal for Local’ mantra in transforming Khadi from a symbol of fashion to a powerful agent of change for the economically disadvantaged.

C. Improving Economic Conditions for Khadi Artisans

During the Khadi Samvad program in Jaipur, the KVIC Chairman announced a historic 35% wage increase for all Khadi artisans, effective from April 1st, 2023. This increase contributes to a total wage hike of over 150% since 2014. The Chairman urged the public to support ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ by purchasing more Khadi and Village industry products.

PMEGP Awareness Camp in Dadia Village, Jaipur

On April 21st, 2023, a PMEGP awareness camp was conducted in Dadia village, Jaipur. The event featured presentations on the application process for the PMEGP and allowed participants to apply for loans online. Approximately 70-80 applicants submitted their loan requests under PMEGP during the camp.

KVIC Chairman Reviews Progress in Jaipur

Also, the KVIC Chairman held a review meeting with Khadi and Village Industries Commission officers and employees in Jaipur to discuss ongoing initiatives and evaluate progress.
