ICAI (Cost) to train 1 lac GST Accountants; Central Govt. to bear Course Fee
As per news reports, the ICAI (Cost) will launch a course on GST Accounting in a month’s time and will train about 1 lac candidates without charging any course fee, as the Central Govt. will bear the entire cost.
ICAI (Cost) is in discussions with the Government for a 50-hour course on GST Accounting and modalities are being worked out to effectively make it free for candidates, as the Central Govt. will totally bear the cost of course for one lakh candidates, i.e. about Rs. 5,000 per candidate.
For the purpose, ICAI (Cost) will conduct an all-India entrance exam with a nominal fee to screen the aspirants. All commerce graduates or those who are pursuing graduation will be eligible to take the exam.
ICAI (Cost) is planning to start this course in view of the perception that SMEs are facing problems in getting competent GST Accountants.
