ICAI Dubai’s Roadmap for Sustainable Technology (2023-24)

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Dubai Chapter has recently announced its 2023-24 roadmap with a focus on “Sustainable Technology through Innovation.” The initiative, referred to as “Sustech,” will be a major part of the chapter’s events and activities for the next year.

The Backbone of the UAE Economy

Indian Chartered Accountants have become key players in the UAE’s economy, with over 8,000 managing the financial affairs of large business houses. According to Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Indian Chartered Accountants have now become some of the most successful business leaders in the UAE, contributing to the growth of bilateral trade with India, which exceeded $49 billion last year.

His Excellency Sunjay Sudhir, Indian Ambassador to the UAE, echoed this sentiment, stating that the 8,000-strong Indian Chartered Accountants form the backbone of the UAE economy.

Empowering Women in Accounting

The ICAI Dubai Chapter is also focusing on women empowerment, as 44 percent of Chartered Accountants in India are women. CA Rajesh Somani, Vice Chairman of the ICAI Dubai Chapter, emphasizes the importance of empowering women in the field of accounting.

Sustainable Technology through Innovative Ideas

CA Harikishan Rankawat, Chairman of the ICAI Dubai Chapter, announced the new roadmap, which includes over 40 events, including five international conferences, with one specifically focused on sustainability. CA Jai Prakash Agarwal, Secretary of the ICAI Dubai Chapter, stresses the importance of sustainable technology through innovative ideas for future generations.

Bollywood star-turned philanthropist Vivek Oberoi also spoke at the conference, emphasizing the crucial role Chartered Accountants play in the success of businesses. He stated that Chartered Accountants hold both the locks and the keys to unlocking a business’s potential and sowing the seeds of change.

His Excellency Sunjay Sudhir, Indian Ambassador to the UAE, highlighted India’s efforts towards sustainable development, mentioning that India has achieved its goal of having 40 percent of its energy from non-fossil fuel sources, 9 years ahead of the target.
