The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), along with leading stock exchanges and depositories, is participating in the 42nd India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2023 from November 14-27 in New Delhi. The theme for SEBI’s pavilion this year is “Bharat Ka Share Bazaar” which aligns with the overall fair’s theme of “Vasudhev Kutumbakam”.
Key Highlights
i) SEBI’s pavilion named “Bharat Ka Share Bazaar” aims to showcase the well-regulated Indian securities market and spread financial literacy.
ii) The pavilion has participation from leading stock exchanges like BSE, NSE, commodity exchanges like MCX, NCDEX as well as depositories like CDSL and NSDL. Industry bodies like AMFI, ANMI and CPAI are also participating.
iii) The pavilion was inaugurated on November 14 by SEBI’s Whole Time Member Shri Kamlesh Chandra Varshney.
SEBI’s Investor-Friendly Initiatives
Over the years, SEBI has taken various technology and process initiatives to benefit investors:
i) Screen-based trading, dematerialization of securities, rolling settlement mechanism, STP, SCORES, ASBA, KRA, eKYC etc.
ii) Investor education programs like SMARTs, caution against illegal money mobilization.
iii) Recent initiatives like Online Dispute Resolution (ODR), T+1 settlement, Investor Service Centres.
iv) Mutual fund reforms like strengthening risk-o-meter tool.
Activities at India International Trade Fair
At the fair, SEBI and participating institutions will conduct various activities including:
i) Talk shows by market experts
ii) Skits, muppet shows
iii) Other engaging activities to spread investor awareness
